Food Recovery Program
Since launching in 2020, our food recovery program has grown rapidly to meet the needs of food businesses and nonprofits. Using innovative app technology and partnering with volunteer drivers, we can easily and efficiently deliver surplus food to nearby food programs.

Community Meal Program
In partnership with Chef TJ Conwi and his team at Ono Vancouver and ReRoot, we transform surplus food into nourishing meals for Vancouver residents facing food insecurity. VFR volunteers deliver surplus ingredients which are used to create healthy meals. Volunteers then distribute these meals to local nonprofits.

School Volunteer Program
Since 2022, our School Volunteer Program has given high school students hands-on experience delivering surplus food to nonprofit partners. Along the way, they learn about food waste, sustainability, and the circular economy, while gaining insights into critical issues like food security, poverty, and mental health.

Food Delivery Support
VFR supports a limited number of nonprofit organizations with their hub-and-spoke food distribution.
In a hub-and-spoke model, food is sourced to a central location (hub), sorted, and repacked before being distributed to smaller partner sites (spokes). This enables clients to access food at nearby locations, reducing barriers like time, transportation, and mobility issues, leading to greater food access and more equitable distribution.
